Geocache Description:

Drove by this for years, without knowing of it's existence!

In 1859, settlers built a loopholed stockade, with a bastion, or block house in its southwest angle, less than a mile from the town of Janesville, Lassen County, after the Battle of Pyramid Lake(also known as"The Ormsby Massacre") for protection from an Indian attack that never materialized. The site of the fort is now a California Historic landmark. More information can be found by visiting the California State Military Museum in Sacramento.
