WW#9 UnderHelm Traditional Cache

Westfarthing Wander #9, ninth of a series of caches out beyond the LOTR caches on the Helm.
There is a little sliver, a shard of delightful woodland adjoining the road which hugs the east side of the Helm. The road seems confused just here, not making up its mind to ride the shoulder of the hill or run for the valley bottom. In this indecision it has at one time forked just here and split, the lower track heading through Underhelm farmyard, the upper heading sensibly to the pub for a pint. This wood occupies the gap between the two, tumbling from one to the other and in this case, slowly encroaching on the lower byway, reducing it to a footpath.
This path branches off to the right after passing through the farmyard and heads, according to Ordnance Survey across 3 fields past the syphon well and back out onto the road at the beehive.
Should you attempt this, little sign of this route is visible in reality and the stile at the bottom of the first field is downright dangerous.
WW # 8 was planned for there but it was felt you might have a better chance of success following farmers tracks and gates down to the syphon well but of course this might be considered slightly "law bending" in some areas.
This woodland has been recognised by the parish and some signboards, picnic benches, permissive paths and more importantly parking spots have been provided.
So now, should you perversely wish to start with a countdown around the westfarthing wander, this is the place to park.
It also has a new access gate up onto the helm itself almost directly opposite the parking area with a direct route up to the dead marshes cache thoughtfully provided!
