David Rasor, one of the original founders of Harrisburg, which is now known as the City of Englewood, Ohio, donated land for the building of a church meeting house on this site in 1861. The simple, one story, brick meeting house was shared by two Brethren groups, the Swankites and Wengerites, who had split away from the Fairview Brethren in Christ. In the 1880s, a fire destroyed much of the old meeting house. It was rebuilt in the late 1880s with Gothic arch windows and was used as a Missionary Church and then a United Brethren in Christ Church. Local members of the Dunkard Brethren purchased this building in the 1920s, dug a basement under the building, and added the concrete block addition on the south side in the 1930s. A new foyer was added to the front of the building in 1992. The Englewood Dunkard Brethren worshipped in this church for more than eighty years until the congregation moved to Miami County, Ohio and sold the building to the Randolph Township Historical Society in March of 2008. It now serves as the RTHS History Center and houses the Society’s meeting rooms, history displays, and research archives.
