This is one of a number of caches in the Green Point Foreshore
Reserve, designed to show people the area. You could make a day of
it and enjoy all the caches and use the facilities to have a picnic
or BBQ.
Situated between the quiet suburbs of Belmont and Valentine by
the Lake, the Green Point Foreshore Reserve has all the features to
make it one of Lake Macquarie’s most scenic and enjoyable
natural attractions for cycling, walking and picnicking.
Originally the site of various mining activities over the past
150 years, the now Council Reserve is undergoing extensive
rehabilitation works to establish it as one of Lake
Macquarie’s foremost natural bushland parks.
There are two entries to the cache, one off the end of Green
Point Drive but I recommend that you use the The Shores Way where
there is a paved carpark. The walk from here is on a concrete
walkway along the shore of Lake Macquarie. When you reach the
picnic area you can walk up a dirt track with stairs or continue
along the concrete which is further but it will get you there.
When you get there enjoy the views and watch for the Eagles.
They were out on the day the cache was placed.
The cache is a Black 500ml plastic container. It contains a log
and pencil.
