Rompala on metsähallituksen ylläpitämä retkikohde, jossa on kota, ulkotulipaikka, wc ja lähde. Auton voi jättää 4-tien varteen parkkipaikalle, josta lähtee ensin moottorikelkkareitti 4-tien ali ja sen kääntyessä vasemmalle jatketaan suoraan alas, josta lähtevät pitkospuut Makialammen kosteikkoalueen yli polulle. Makialammen alueella voi nähdä monenlaisia lintuja. Mm. joutsenet pesivät alueella. Kannattaa siis varata kiikarit matkaan. Rompanpolku muodostaa rengasreitin, jonka varrelle Sortovaaran rinteelle Rompala sijoittuu. Reitti on merkitty oranssein maalimerkein ja koko reitin pituus on n. 4 km. Reitti mutkittelee luonnontilaan jätetyssä vanhassa metsässä ja on enimmäkseen kuivaa kangasmaastoa. Kosteikkokohdat on pitkostettu. Rompala on mukava ja helppo päiväretken kohde. Public open fire place Rompala locates on Rompanpolku- track trail. There are the hut, open fire place outside, toilet and open spring, where you can take a water to drink. It's allowed and free to make a fire and cook your own pag lunch. You can leave your car at park place. The trail goes first under the E75, then straight down (don't turn left) to Makialampi swamp area. There are living a lot of bidrs in Makialampi so take the binoculars with you if want to see them. The trail goes over the swamp. Rompanpolku- track trail is about 4 km long and it has marked with orange paint marks. The trail makes a circle in the hillside of Sortovaara hill and meanders mostly in old forest. The trail is easy to walk and there are the duckboards over the wetlands. The trail is nice and easy to make a short day track.
