The Sterling area of Stowe is a favorite place of mine to go
cross-country skiing. Last winter, taking a short detour from the
Catamount Trail, I had
some nice skiing back to the car through a pine forest along the
edge of the brook, then back through the field where I have hidden
the cache to my car.
Park at N 44°32.352 W 072° 43.183, at the end of Sterling Valley
Road. From the parking, you can go directly uphill through the
meadow to the cache. A few short loops can be made here by
continuing up the trail through the woods and turning either
direction on the snowmobile trail.
