Guardian Cecil, a toad is he
That guards this trail that you see
For he may be small and just a toad
He stands watch off Saddle Peak Road
He sits on guard through dead of night
He sits on guard through scorching light
He sees all who pass and watches close
For this trail, a guardian, he’s been reposed
He lies in hiding so as not to be found
One never knows what creatures are around
When danger appears, a warning he does sound
To alert the masses and the enemy confound
To find him a smart one you must be
He may be in a bush, under a rock, or in a tree
He does not show himself unless the seeker is true
To sign his log and put him back out of view
So search and search if you must
But in your hands, his life, I trust.
