Glen Artney Trek - Braeleny Traditional Cache
Glen Artney Trek - Braeleny
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This is a high level Right of Way route on good tracks between Auchinner, Glen Artney and Braeleny, Callander. The route gives superb views of the surrounding hills and the dramatic mountains Ben Vorlich and Stuc a Chroin.
This cache is near to Braeleny farm so appropriate care should be taken. The walk has been described from Glen Artney but there is no reason why this should not be the start point.
It is possible to drive to a parking spot just before the farm as the co-ords below.
The cache is just down the field from the point where there is a gate on the track above the farm.
Dogs should be strictly kept on a lead because of sheep.
Please be aware of prevailing conditions as the route is 14km one way. The tracks are passable on mountain bikes. Be aware of the conditions on the hills and your fitness level. Allow adequate time to complete your chosen route, ensuring you have appropriate clothing, food, drinks and maps with you. Please make sure someone is aware of your route and the approximate time you are due back.
There are many small burns to cross which may present difficulties after prolonged rain. The bridge at Arivurichadich washed away in the 2004 floods. It is now necessary to either cross the river or go higher to easily cross the 2 feeder burns.
If you are doing the walk one way, you will need to arrange transport to the end.
****congratulations to Nessones for FTF****
