Going With the Basics Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Tobias & Petronella: Went out today to look for this one and after searching the area we've concluded that it is definitely gone. The only thing left of the hide was a few of the sticks, and they were thrown around the area.

Due to the increase of trash over the past few years we've decided not to replace a hide at this location. If anybody is wanting to put one out near this spot, we're willing to point out the problem spots.

This was our first hide and we're sad to see it go, but at the same time we're very pleased at the amount of traffic that visited it. So thanks to everybody that stopped by and we hope you enjoyed the waterfall as much as we do.

How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

No bushwhacking involved. Ammo can is about 10 feet from the trail. When I say trail, I mean road. However there is a very nice dirt/grass trail that parallels the water. During the right time of year, it's a very nice view from the top.

This cache was designed to be a very easy grab. Because of the activity in the area since we first put it out, we have had to move it a couple of times. This time it is back in its original location.

Waterfall

For our very first cache, we wanted to go with something very simple and very basic. Our first thought was a micro LPC but we decided to go a slightly different route. Hopefully we're not going to disappoint anybody, but we decided to go with an ammo can near a wooded environment.

Be careful when parking, it can be a little tricky. When we were there, we drove down the road to a wide spot to turn around and then parked on the very narrow grassy shoulder which can get muddy.

A lot of muggles visit this spot, so make sure that it's well hid. Thanks.

Regardless if you are traveling East or West on I-90, take Exit 45.
There is a road under the freeway that makes it easy to get off I-90 and then get back on going in either direction.

This cache is meant to be quick and easy.

The cache is about 20 feet to the right of the waterfall and about 10 feet from the street at the base of a tree under a pile of sticks. Muggles walk by this spot so make sure it it can't be seen from the edge of the road. Thanks to everyone for help keeping this cache active.

*** Congratulations JohnTubbsMB on being the first one to find our first cache. ***

Update 06/03/09: The place where the cache is at is changing a little. Plants and trees grow and change shape. We may need to change its hiding spot if it changes too much. Please re-hide as good as possible and let me know if a new hiding spot is needed. Thanks to Master_Dirt and Padre69 for their re-hide and letting me know about the problems at GZ.

Update 08/18/09: Due to recent muggle activity, we've been forced to relocate the cache approximately 40 ft. from its original location. We should have increased the terrain difficulty by half a star, since it's a little steeper at that point, but it would be an easy "2". We would like to thank the following cachers for helping us track the movements and locate the cache container when it came up missing from its original location: Forty-n-Eight, happyhunter12, bearclaw 0, jlc52168, and grfb614.

Update 07/16/10: The cache has been moved back to its original location. It was hidden behind a bush, but the Highway Department cut the bush back to nothing but left the cache alone (thank you Hwy. Dept.). We covered it with sticks and left it there for the upcoming Geowoodstock VIII. Now that the event is over and the tree where it was first hidden has filled out, we decided to move it back.
