Geocache Description:

Follow the trail to Dripping Springs and veer off to the Boyd's Sanatorium.

Disabled 27 July 2018. I will be relocating from area. If you would like to adopt this cache, please PM me prior to 17 August 2018. Otherwise I will dismantle and remove the cache from the current location.

Do not give hints or clues about the new hide.

These wood frame structures were constructed about 1910 by Dr. Nathan Boyd, a medical doctor and international businessman. Dr. Boyd came to Las Cruces in the 1890s as a representative of an English engineering firm which planned to construct a dam on the Rio Grande River. For a short time in the early 1900s, these buildings were operated as a tuberculosis sanatorium. Ephemeral structures for housing the patients were built on the terraces above and behind these buildings. Water was piped from the springs to the holding tank above the terraces and then piped down through the houses and down to a drinking fountain.

Please respect the BLM signs requesting that you stay out of the buildings to preserve our heritage. Also be mindful of muggles and use stealth as this cache has been opened in the past by non-cachers.

Certain times of the year/seasons the critters will be rampant. Keep senses alert for snakes, spiders and other creepy crawleys. Risking an injury to log a cache is not worth it.

A few items have been placed to kick this off again.

My GPS puts this at N 32 19.364' by W 106 34.413'. If you get better coords, email me and I will test them out and change accordingly.
