HISTORY
Deerfield Park was created in 1966 as part of the School/Park
Concept, when the Lawrence School District purchased 10 acres of
land and the City of Lawrence purchased 10 acres of land adjacent
to the school property.
The park originally housed two tennis courts and a basketball
court. However, in the early 90s, one of the tennis courts was
converted into a roller hockey court to host LPRD's Rollerblading
League. Since then, LPRD has developed the roller hockey court into
a skate park.
