Geocache Description:

Level urban terrain, lots of potential muggles at certain times. Lots of GPS bounce, so go ahead and read the hint! NOT a light skirt micro!

An urban cache, in a historical Rochester area. Probably best to do this one during daylight – ya never know what darkness will bring! Also highly muggled at certain times (e.g. shift changes).

For a city the size of Rochester, I think we need more caches near downtown. Mostly because I want caches I can grab on my lunch hour! Thankfully, there have been many recent additions by Billsfan, misterchaos, and ccrider2000!

I placed this one in honor of French’s Mustard, my favorite, which was originally invented and manufactured right on this spot. Well, OK, in the large building you are near, not at the cache spot!

French’s was the first commercial producer of the “creamy” style mustards, a style highly copied today. French’s Mustard got a huge marketing break when they introduced their creamy mustard at the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, where the hot dog was also first introduced. (Other long lasting food items introduced and/or popularized at that World's Fair included the ice cream cone, peanut butter, iced tea, Dr. Pepper, and puffed wheat cereal.) Although no longer manufactured here, it’s an international brand (like Kodak, Xerox, or Bausch & Lomb) which got its start in our humble city.

According to Wikipedia: “When located in Rochester, New York as an independent company well into the late 1960s and 1970s, the plant was located at 1 Mustard Street. .... During its heyday, the company was a sponsor of the local weather forecast, featuring its address prominently in television advertising. They also were a prominent sponsor of the Rochester Red Wings baseball club, often in conjunction with a local brand of hot dogs, Tobin's First Prize.”
