Escot is open daily from 10am to 6pm in the summer (Easter to 31
October) and until 5pm in the winter (1 November to Easter) and is
only closed for a long weekend during August for a private event
and on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. There are also some pay to
enter events during the year which may unfortunately restrict
cachers. We will try to inform you when these will take place but
would be grateful if you could also please check on the Escot
website before making your journey in case anything slips past
us.
As the walk takes place along a mixture of public and permissive
footpaths with the permission of the landowners, we would be
grateful if you could please pay heed to the opening hours. Should
this not be possible, the owner tells us he is training a flock of
attack ravens.... You have been warned!!
Caches along the route of approximately 3.5 miles, taking
cacher's between 2 to 3 hours to complete, are a mixture of small
and micro. The small ones contain a log book and swaps and
initially some geocoins and TB's, the micros are film canisters.
The caches contain clues as to the whereabouts of the final cache
so don't forget to keep a note. Please take your own pen/pencil as
some of the caches do not contain them.
Areas of this walk can be very boggy and slippy in some cases.
There are parts which involve walking through fields of livestock
and navigating electric fences, stiles and gates - all standard
fare for geocachers of course! As with all caching, please assess
the risk for yourself before seeking any cache as you are
responsible for your own safety (is this sounding scary yet?!)
Please ensure all gates are shut (and tied in some cases) behind
you and take good care at all times. Oh, and enjoy yourself!!
Taking into consideration the tree cover in many parts of the
walk, some of the hints are quite specific to help you find the
caches.
THE FINAL CACHE CAN BE FOUND FROM THE FOLLOWING SUM...
