Geocache Description:

Stikhokken

Liget fik lov at blive liggende, fordi andre forbipasserende smed grene over det.

Stikhokken in Hyrdeforest is a ca. 3 meters high branch pile, the pile should have been there for hundreds of years, surely it has been there since 1906, this reported a forester who was employed in the forest from 1906 to 1945.
Stikhokken in Hyrdeforest is probably the last of its kind in Denmark.

Legend of stikhokken goes to sometime in the 1700s, when a hated forester was killed by a Poacher.
The body were allowed to stay because of others that were passing threw branches over it.
According to one version of the legend, the ghost of the deceased's was hounting the spot and to protect themselves, they threw a branch on the pile each time they passed it.
Today people is still throwing branches on the pile when they are passing, it probably explains that the pile does not become smaller, despite it quietly sinks together.

So remember to throw a branch on the pile.
