Using a section of the restored Schuylkill Canal is a great idea for the solo boater. Sure beats paddling upstream in the river to get back to the car! The cache is near the river pull-out and portage location. Beware!! There is stinging nettle in the immediate area where the cache is hidden!! Also, no matter what MapQuest shows, the cache is definitely on dry land! Please bring your own pen to sign log.
This cache has changed hands more than once over the years and occasionally goes missing but it is too good a location to retire. The current container makes this easier than in the past but I am working with what I have and hopefully it will last.
The cache is in Upper Providence Township Schuylkill Canal Park. The sign says the Park is open 24/7. Please observe the Park rules which are posted at the parking lot located off Longford Road (cords posted below). The canal is maintained by the Schuylkill Canal Association.
