Geocache Description:

Note: 9/4/12 Cache replaced after it most likely washed away. Slightly different hide this time. Remove from the top and replace as found. Note: 5/23/17 Original and subsequent hide locations have changed. Now a typical hide for the area.

Hibberts Gore is a 640 acre unorganized township. This township is one of the few parcels in the lower half of Maine managed by the Land Use Regulation Commission, having somehow escaped being absorbed by its larger neighbors over the decades. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Hibberts Gore is one of only four townships in the United States with a population of one. The others are in Indiana, Wyoming, and New Hampshire. The above information is from the May 2009 issue of Down East magazine.
