Elvis' First Walk Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

BatGirlandCo: WP4 has a tendency to end up both lower and higher than it should - often at the same time. Perhaps it is the remnants of the New Year and a need to no longer look behind so feel this one may be better left for now.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Batgirl's first official (revived) geocache (‘coz that event doesn't count). I couldn't quite decide what my first cache should be - should it be an offset or a traditional? Should it be a micro or something bigger? Should it have directions (because I love using maps) or coordinates? Should it be hard or easy? Honestly, I couldn't decide...so this cache has a little bit of all these things.

There are some micro waypoints to find to lead you to the end cache; some information is given and some you must derive along the way; the route will take you to playgrounds, bush-land and urban suburbia too. In our household the start-point is called Elvis's Park as it was the site of his first walkies in the big wide world. The old playground was removed in 2012 and a brand new one has sprung up which isn't really as good as the old dodgy one....I must be old. Anyway, this little meander could take anywhere from 15-20 minutes to all afternoon depending on whether you have any geo-kiddies or 8-week-old puppies with you ! So off we go - enjoy!

WP1
At the posted coordinates you should find a small mint-tin container containing the next set of coordinates you need.

WP2
At the coordinates collected from WP1 you should find a similar container with directions to the next way-point.

WP3
The directions from WP2 will take you to WP3 which is not a specific GPS location but rather a particular street not far away. Once there answer these simple questions and put the answers into the formula to find the next stop along the way. (It’s a small street so it won’t take long, very basic algebra skills required.)

A = Number of letters in the name of the street
B = Number of storm-water drains in the street
C = Number of street lights in the street
D = Number of Fire Hydrant locations in the street

Now solve your next set of coordinates as follows:

S35 23.(C) (B-2D) (A-B) E149 04.(D-C-C) (B) (C+D)

WP4
If you solved the clues correctly you should be close to another park. Shorties may need decent footwear or a helping hand. You should find a container (similar to those at WP1 and WP2) which will contain a set of directions to take you further.

WP5 (new since 2012)
The directions from WP4 will take you to another street. Again, answer these simple questions and put the answers into the formula to find the last stop along the way.

E = Number of letters in the name of the street
F = Number of houses that would have an address in this street
G = Highest house number in the street

Now solve for GZ as follows:

S35 23.(F-A) (E-B) (F+C) E149 04.(D) (C+D) (2(C+D))

The coordinates will not be far away.

GZ
If you found it well done - you have completed Elvis's First Walk (or at least something similar to it).

The cache commenced its life with a selection of 'dog themed' items but a smaller container was required for the new hide. Only small swaps will fit.
