Geocache Description:

Dirt road accessible by a two wheel drive high clearance vehicle, short walk.

Packard is one of the main producers of hte Rochester District, Packard is located on the southern end of the district and is reached by a road leading out of Rochester Canyon or from Coal Canyon.

Packard was discovered in December 1912 and built the following year. It was named for a coach used in transporting people to the new camp.

Packard bloomed into a considerable community making it prominent suburb of Rochester. In Packard's ten-year lifetime, 1913-1923, over $1.5 million was produced. Sporadic work has been carried on since and old, tumbling down frame buildings adorn the sage-covered countryside.
