St John's Walkway Traditional Cache
Beagle Team: I suspect the cache is still there, just to much leaf litter and rocks that all look the same. So I am archiving this one.

The cache is a good size although not quite an ammo tin. Thanks to GROBOZ for the container.
Following many years of representation from the Bishop of Darwin, Bishop John O'Loughlin, msc, in November 1959 the Minister for Territories approved the granting of a special purpose lease covering the present site of our College. The site had major appeal because of its potential for development. Although rocky, uninviting bush land at the time, it was adjacent to the Botanical Gardens, near the Darwin Tennis Courts, on main transport routes and a short distance from the sea with a view across Mindil Beach to the harbour.
One year before Cyclone Tracy ravaged Darwin, residential accommodation for girls was opened by the Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosary and Father Tyson Doneley was appointed Rector of St. John's. After the cyclone it became his task to restore the College. He took a new approach and began the formation of the St. John's, a coeducational, split campus, Middle School and Senior Secondary College.
Determined efforts were made to minimise the effect of the "split" campus and a covered walkway was erected between the two campuses through the hard work of the Parents and Friends' Association. It was constructed of materials from the old Darwin Hospital.
