Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
This cache was placed for Memorial Day 2009 to honor all
those who have served and are serving our country.
We remember those who have given their all. Some may remain
nameless...but they are not forgotten.
This is a two stage multi with close parking to each stage.
You will drive a short distance between stages. The
coordinates take you to the Danish Cemetery in Lemont where you
will find the grave of an "Unknown Soldier" who served in World War
I.
To get the coordinates to the final, you will need to get
information from the grave of another World War I Veteran, from New
York, located about ten feet South of the Unknown Soldier's
gravestone.
Take the birth month times ten and added it to the North
coordinate. Then take the number of his infantry division
plus 212 and add it to the West coordinate. You will be
looking for an ammo box. Approach the cache indirectly as to
minimize impact on the environment as well as your hike.
