Part of this area used to be owned by Piankeshaw Council, Boy Scouts of America [BSA} a former part of Prairielands Council {BSA}, after those councils merged in 1992. It was known as camp Cherokee Hills [The former summer camp of the Piankeshaw council BSA], located east of Georgetown, Illinois. This land was sold in 1996 to the state of Illinois to be an addition to the Harry "Babe" Woodard State Natural Area.
This land has a special place in my life due to spending numerous hours there in Cub Scouts. Rumers have it this land is haunted which I never believed in up untill lately. I have heard sounds of drums late at night and have got pictures of orb's and mists on my camera when nothing could be seen by the naked eye. For those brave soals who are willing to try this at night report back here of anything out of the ordinary and share your stories.
