Kirkyard # 4
Kirkyard, Graveyard, or Cemetery???
This is the Fourth in our series of Kirkyards. A Kirkyard, Graveyard, or Cemetery differ according to its history and location. This resting place is a cemetery because the grounds do not contain a church or place of worship.
(Bow Cemetery)
Skagit County, Washington

Bow Cemetery was established in 1892 just a short distance south of the city of Bow. It is located in Skagit County, on the Samish Bay.
Bow was originally known as Brownsville, after William J Brown, who homestead the town site in 1869. The advent of the railroad resulted in a population boom and the need for a post office. Apparently inspired by the growth brought by the railroad, Brown suggested the new name of Bow, after the large railway station in London, England. Although this is the most common belief, there are some who believe it was named after homesteader James T. Bow. .
