Die Geotreppe in Ostfildern-Scharnhauser Park
Im Gelände der Landesgartenschau 2002 ist im Bereich Bürgergärten ein Geogarten angelegt worden. Zehn Steinblöcke in der Größe von je etwa einem Kubikmeter sind hintereinander so angeordnet, dass sie die Schichtfolge und das Schichtfallen der südwestdeutschen Schichtstufenlandschaft abbilden: vom Grundgebirge über Trias - Jura - Tertiär bis zur Eiszeit. Deshalb die Bezeichnung Geotreppe. Auf Infotafeln werden diese Gesteinsarten und ihre Nutzung vorgestellt. Steine werden „zum Reden“ gebracht über ihre erdgeschichtliche Entstehung und die damalige Lebewelt. Lokale Schwerpunkte sind der Fildergraben und der nahe gelegene Scharnhauser Vulkanschlot.

The geogarden has been designed for the German horticultural show in 2002. Ten stone blocks, each one has a Volume of about 1 cubic metre, were arranged in a row to illustrate the layer result and the layer traps of the southwest-German layer step scenery: from the foundation to Trias - Law - Tertiär all the way to ice age. A layered structure like that is called: Goelogical Stairway. You will find further information about the rocks and their usage on the information boards.
