Geocache Description:

A Memorial Day Cache

Norris Reservation in Norwell, MA is not San Juan Hill.  But you can pretend you're a Rough Rider as you assault the 75 ft hill on the banks of the North River.
The 129 acre Park is one of the prettiest on the South Shore, with planted shrubbery along trails that wind amongst the tall pines.   There is a fresh water pond and brook system on the west side, and the tidal estuary of the North River on the east.
The North River was a major thoroughfare in colonial times, serving as a lifeline to the South Shore inland agricultural & early industrial sites.   Numerous shipyards & ironworks lined the river.  Warships & exploratory vessels that served in several wars originated from ship builders along this river.  The Columbia River in Washington state was named after a ship built here, the first to explore the North Pacific coast in 1773.

The only detraction to Norris Park is the vigorous poison ivy.  It seems to be almost everywhere.  Stay on the wide trails; they will keep you safe, and take you all the way to the cache without bushwhacking.  The cache is off trail at the top of the hill, but in a PI free place.  The hide is simple; you shouldn't have to rummage around in the foliage.
The container is full of Memorial Day related stuff.

There are three other caches in the Reservation; be sure to visit them too.
