Geocache Description:

A simple cache in this small community.

Two stories have come to my investigations of how Bens Run was founded.

The beginnings..... take your pick:

1. The Post Office in Bens Run was first named Josiah after Josiah Riggs, the first postmaster.
2. In approximately 1800, Ellis Thomas settled near the lower end of the Long Reach. The run that now divides Tyler and Pleasant counties was for awhile named Thomas Run after Ellis Thomas or one of his sons.

But both stories end with the same naming of Bens Run:

The name was changed to Bens Run because of the slogan used by Benjamin Wells when he ran for public office.... "Benny, Run, Run!"
The stream running through the town, which divides Tyler County and Pleasants County, also received the name of Bens Run.

When placed the cache contained hand sanitizer, punch ball, pair of dice, baseball, lizard, wooden nickel, and coin.

FTF congratulations go to redhandruthie. Way to go!
