This is on the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail (LHHT). The only 'difficult' part is the very end has a steep part. Round trip hike is approx. one mile. NOTE: THE DRIVE TO THE PARKING COORDS CANNOT BE REACHED FROM ROUTE 31 IN BAKERSVILLE DUE TO THE BRIDGE THAT TAKES BAKERSVILLE ROAD OVER THE TURNPIKE WILL BE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS STARTING APRIL 3, 2012, YOU WILL HAVE TO DRIVE IN FROM ROUTE 30 AREA.
This is our 1st cache placement. It is a lock n lock clear plastic container. We placed a log book, a few items for trade, etc. Also, we placed our 1st TB. (UFD TB) This cache can be accessed from a couple of ways. From RT 31 at Bakersville (Camp Conestoga) on SR4001. Or Rt. 30 from Laurel Summit Rd. Both ways go to the parking area which is located on Hickory Flats Rd. ** Please note** do not follow the driving instructions from Google unless you put in the parking coordinates as your destination. There is NOT access from the PA Turnpike. From the parking spot, walk SW 0.15 mi. on Marshall Fields Trail, look for the LHHT crossing, yellow blaze, go left. (37 mi. marker on LHHT is the halfway point to the cache.) **Do not take the 1st road left. The LHHT is a small entrance into the woods a little past that. A map of the area is included for reference. Please leave in the cache for others to see. If you would like maps of the area, go to the website: http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry/stateforests/forbes.aspx This cache is placed with DCNR approval. Enjoy the beauty of the area, you may even see wildlife along the way. We even spotted a 'bear'. Go to the photo gallery to see the pics. Happy Caching!
