Geocache Description:

This cache is dedicated in the highest regard to our servicemen and women. I stole this idea from a Marine, and since I'm in the Marines, figured I'd carry out the tradition. Please place it back as you found it. Again, easy hide!

Memorial Day, or Decoration Day as it was originally called, is a day to remember those who have died in our Nation's service. It was first observed on a National level on May 30, 1868 when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate Soldiers at Arlington Cemetery.
More Information about Memorial Day, including the origin of the Buddy Poppy, which for more than 75 years has been sold by the VFW to raise money for veteran's welfare and the well being of their dependents can be found at www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html . You can also read about how with the National Holiday Act of 1971, Memorial Day became a 3 day holiday which, more than not, distracted people and undermined the very meaning of the day.
Let us not forget those who serve and who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

Cache Contains Military trinkets.
