The Turntable Ladder is the best known form of specialised fire apparatus, and is used to gain access to fires occurring at height where conventional ladders carried on other appliances might not reach. The turntable ladder may be known as a Quad or Quint. A filler truck also known as a tractor drawn aerial, is a specialised turntable ladder mounted on a semi-trailer truck. A hook-and-ladder fire truck is in a tractor-trailer format. A Hydraulic Platform is a specialized aerial work platform. Most are designed to reach a height of around 100 feet, but larger models are capable of reaching 328 feet.
