Geocache Description:

Waterproof match container. To grab this cache, you may encounter heavy underbrush, lowlands, mosquitoes and other pesky critters. Please replace this cache at least 4-5 feet off the ground to keep it above flood level.

This cache is placed in honor of my great friend, SuperCatie80. As an avid kayaker and someone not afraid of a littel bushwacking, I thought this would be a fitting spot for her cache. I have been placing caches in honor of my friends who I have encouraged to take up geocaching. In the case of SuperCatie80, she was geocaching before I started so this cache is a little different in nature than my "hooked" series as she didn't take any encouragement from me to get hooked!

You will need a boat to retreive this cache. I set this cache by canoe launching from Mt Simon Park. I would recommend a canoe or kayak to retrieve the cache. You may be able to retrieve this cache with a powerboat but I am making NO guarantees as to the water depth to support an approach by powerboat.

This won't be an easy grab. But it will take you into a great area to paddle close in to Eau Claire. The cache is in a part of the Chippewa River called Dells Pond. Dells Pond was used as a holding area for logs which were harvested from forests to the north. They would be floated down here to Dells Pond and then sorted for delivvery to the sawmills. Now Dells Pond is a great recreation area for local boaters, fishing, and paddling.

This is one of my favorite spots to paddle in Eau Claire. I almost always see wildlife of some sort. If you like to fish there is great fishing around the islands near the cache.
