Fall Creek Falls were mentioned on the webpage of a famous Oregon
Waterfall photographer & chronicaler as not having a picture
due to having no available access
The falls have a straight drop of around 60 feet right onto solid
basalt, this causes quite a bit of spray at the base. A good
portion of the falls strikes a basalt outcropping and adds to the
spray and causes a nice bit of turbulence behind the main
drop.
Take a sturdy vehicle up Butte Creek Road to the parking waypoint
and then take the road that goes west. You'll have to walk because
the road swiftly narrows to a trail and passes two landslides early
on. Go upslope to pass the first slide and go below the second
slide. Further along the trail you will come to a fork when you are
about .87 miles from the cache, take the right fork.
Use a topographical map like I did and cross the river to the south
side where the map shows the last crossing before the falls.
Brushwhack 1000 feet along the south side of the creek until you
get to the falls. Stay a little high at first, but drop down when
you see a very large, moss covered Vine Maple near the water.
Near the base of the falls is a large bigleaf maple, the bright red
ammo can is upslope from this tree at the base of a huge
stump/snag.
