La Butte de Taloison figure sur l'inventaire des sites naturels du département comme "l'un des sites naturels majeurs du Plateau de Langres et du département de la Haute-Marne". Durant des siècles, ce point élevé du Plateau de Langres (428 mètres) servit de lieu de pâturage aux moutons et aux chèvres de la commune. Cette activité pastorale dans ces lieux ingrats permit le maintien de l'écosystème. Liée à la morphologie particulière du sol et du sous-sol très perméables, une flore, constituée d'espèces adaptées à la sécheresse et à une teneur élevée en calcaire, est réapparue. Plus d'une trentaine d'espèces végétales rares occupent ainsi la pelouse de la Butte de Taloison.

La Butte de Taloison est un site fragile et protégé. Lors de votre visite, restez sur le chemin jusqu’au muret et monter sur l’escalier de pierre pour continuer par le sentier aménagé.

The Mound of Taloison appears on the inventory of the natural sites of the department as " one of the major natural sites of the Plateau of Langres and the department of the Haute-Marne ". For centuries, this high point of the Plateau of Langres (428 metres) was of use as place of pasture to sheeps and to goats of the municipality. This pastoral activity in these thankless places allowed the preservation of the ecosystem. Connected to the particular morphology of the very permeable ground and the basement, a flora, constituted by sorts adapted to the drought and to the content raised in limestone, is reappeared. More than around thirty rare botanical species so occupy the lawn of the Mound of Taloison.

This site is listed and protected. During your visit, stay on the road up to the stony wall and take the stony staircase to continue the footpath.
