The town of Kranzburg was established in 1878 as a station on the Winona & St.Peter Railroad, a division of the Chicago & Northwestern Railway, when the rail line was buildt to Watertown that year. The first school building for the Holy Rosary Parochial School was constructed in 1906 next to the church. In 1914, the school was moved accross the street to make room for a new rectory. The first parish church-a $600,20 foot-by2-foot frame structure-was constructed in 1879, the same year the town was founded.
