At approx. 10.57 PM on Thursday April 25, 1963 an explosion inside the mine at Clinchfield Coal Companys No. 2 mine in Dola, WV. took the lives of 22 miners. My Father was working inside as a section foreman in another part of the mine. He was able to lead 12 other miners safely outside after the explosion.
Thru the efforts of family members and friends a beautiful black granite memorial was constructed and dedicated on September 03, 2006.
