LONG DESCRIPTION:

***Sadly, I have had to replace the small lunch box container with a film canister in the original location; and a very, very, very thin back-up cache ‘container’ in the back-up location. However, the attractions are still well worth the visit (and you can get online in the BFI for free with wireless).***

N51º30.410 W000º06.889.
Start at the South Bank Centre - location of a collection of buildings, the earliest of which was constructed in the 1950s. The South Bank Centre is home to various arts and it has been extended a number of times. In the immediate vicinity are The Hayward Gallery, British Film Institute, National Theatre and the Royal Festival Hall. Not to mention a giant astro-turf table and chairs! (Brings a new meaning to the term "street furniture.") Other areas, such as the Undercroft have been adopted by ‘urban culture’. Here you will find graffiti artists, skateboarders, BMX riders, photographers and occasionally performance artists.

SO - TO THE CACHE:
I have added 1.5 points to the difficulty rating purely due to muggle presence.

Q1) Which number denotes the famous British spy who has items from his films on display in the BFI? “CCD” (Amongst other things, you can see the golden gun here.)
Now walk towards the river and then west under the bridge, past an outdoor book market. You are at the Undercroft of the Queen Elizabeth Hall. N51º30.413 W000º07.001. With the urban Sk8r boys in front, you may not notice the pier behind. (Often the scene of some very formal black tie events.)

Q2) How many vowels in the name of the pier behind you? (Don’t include the word ‘pier’) “A”.
Take the steps up, above the Undercroft and you will find picnic benches from which you can rest while watching people jump in and out of a water installation called “Appearing Walls”. N51º30.386 W000º07.023.

Q3) How many ‘safe areas’ are there to stand inside the water feature? “B”. (Be warned - on a windy day some elements may be switched off due to the spray being carried by the wind. However, you can see the jets on the ground.)

The Water Feature gets removed from time to time. So here is an alternative question...
Q3) If you were in the undercroft trying to 'grind', 'hand grab', 'kick flip' or 'rail slide' - how many wheels would you be using? "B"

There are toilets in the South Bank centre to the West, should the sound of running water be too much for you! From here you can easily walk to the Hayward or National Theatre. To the West you also get a glimpse of the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament. (See signposts or waypoints.)

THE ORIGINAL CACHE is hidden on the UPSTAIRS level at
N 51° AC.A(AxA)(AxA) W000° CD.C(B-A)(AxA)

THE BACK-UP CACHE is hidden on the DOWNSTAIRS level, near the yellow staircase.
Cache location: N 51° AC.A(AxA)(D-2) W000° CD.C(B-A)(AxA)

WARNING - Stealth, Stealth and MORE STEALTH is required - as the site is overrun by sightseeing muggles! Suggest casually tying up shoelaces while feeling for the cache!

EXTRA CHALLENGE - (Optional!)
How quickly can you get to all quadrants of the water feature without getting wet? You could write your answer in the log book - but don't blame me if you get a little damp - I was soaked!!! ;-) (Avoid doing it on a windy day!)

ORIGINAL CONTENTS (when placed):
Andy Warhol “Famous for 15 mins” keyring
Film camera led light
Matchbook seeds
Flickbook log book (Please sign and replace)
Pencil.

REPLACEMENT CACHE CONTENTS
