Where's Willliams? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wooden Cyclist: This cache was a part of the Michigan Lost Town series. The history lesson that comes along with creating one of these caches was a rewarding one. As with all caches, this cache led a precarious life and was eventually taken.

Geocache Description:

This cache was created to be part of the Michigan Lost Towns series.

Williams Michigan was located at the intersection of 2nd avenue and the Kalamazoo & South Haven Railroad tracks between Alamo and Mentha. The town had 125 residents at its peak. There was a railroad depot, general store, school house, brickmaking factory, a barrel parts factory and sawmills were located here.

There is little evidence of Williams left today. A large brick home built by the owner of the brickworks, Chester Williams' home and the Williams school still exist.

A history of the town of Williams complete with pictures can be seen here. (visit link)

Thanks to Radman Forever for creating this series and allowing me and others to contribute to it.

All of the caches currently listed in this series are located north of Grand Rapids and in the UP so I decided to place one here. If you know of any other lost towns or ghost towns in the area consider placing a cache there an adding it to the series.

Please notice how the cache is placed and replace in exactly the same way.

FTF prize is an LED flashlight.

Congrats to Mo Jolove on the FTF
