Geocache Description:

This cache was created to commerate the 27 year career of Hawkidad 1965-92.

The New Mexico State Police was created by legslation in 1935. There were two predecessors to the NMSP, the first one being the N. M. Mounted Police created in 1905 and the second being the N. M. Motor Patrol created in 1933. In 1935 under the administration of Gov. Clyde Tingley the Motor Patrol was changed to the State Police.

The department has progressed dramatically since 1935. Today the New Mexico State Police is a well trained, well equipped professional efficient organization. It is still an elite corp of law enforcement officers for the state of N. M.

The cache is located near the powerline road south of Talavera Sub-division. It contains some NMSP memorbilia including a State Police Car Travel Bug. Hopefully the TB will travel throughout the country and pictures of other state police cars and uniforms will be posted.

CONGRATS TO COYOTERO FOR FTF.
