Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are not the location of the cache. However, you will need to visit this site to acquire the information needed to locate the cache. There are 3 stages to this hunt, and I promise an interesting journey.

This cache was originally posted in May 2009, almost exactly 150 years after Libbie’s date of birth. Poor Libbie didn't live to a ripe old age. She has probably been long forgotten. But for Geocacher’s she will become important in the lives of others once again.

So, let's see if we can get the information from her stone to lead you to the next stage. Maybe we can just assign letters to her date of birth and the date of her death.

Like this:

a/bc/defg for date of birth
and h/i/jklm for the date of death.

Darn, that gives us some duplications. Oh well, we're already started now, so let's keep going. Oh, nuts. There's another problem. There are some numbers we need that aren't there. OK, let's make her age at the time of her death op. Now there's only one needed number left. We'll call that q. q=the number of letters in Libbie's favorite flower minus b. (I confess that I don't really know what Libbie's favorite flower was, but if you’re standing at the listed coordinates, you’d have to agree that this is the obvious choice.)

Oh dear, what if you are doing this in the winter. Libbie's flower will appear to be as dead as she is and as impossible to see as Libbie herself. OK. It's less fun, but for you winter cachers: q=m-b or, if you want to check your work: o+d. (Don't let me cache anyone using the second method during the summer months!)

OK, let’s see. We’ve used 16 letters and there are only 10 numbers. I think I'll just leave them all to add to the confusion. Whoops, what the heck happened to n. I’ll confess. I just plain forgot it. Perhaps it will show up later.

Don't you have to wonder what it was that took Libbie's life at such a young age? And how long did William live after that? Was that perennial planted at the time of her death? Do they live 114 years? Who planted it?

All right. Enough questions. Now it’s off to:

N qi ij.qom N __ __ __ __. __ __ __
W kg da.ipc W__ __ __ __. __ __ __

But first, some advice. I recommend you not wear shorts or flip-flops. You’re going to be walking through some high grass and weeds and stuff. You won’t be able to see your feet, and God only knows what’s down there. (Personally, I haven't seen my feet for years, but that’s a whole different issue.) I always think of snakes, but I didn’t get bitten and hopefully, neither will you. Also, some insect repellent will be welcome. I didn’t have any when I was there, and I’m still OK. Does anyone know how long it takes for symptoms of West Nile to show up?

Park at the coordinates you calculated. You will notice that it is open ahead of you, to right and behind you.To the left is a grove of trees. Walk up the incline to your left (south) into the middle of the grove of trees. If you’re there alone as I was, it’s kind of spooky. Peaceful though. As you walk up the incline you will notice some structure on the ground on each side you. I mention that so that you will know you are on the right track. Or not. As you stand in the middle of the grove of trees wondering why you ever took up Geocaching, look in the tree tops. In one of the trees you will see some things hanging from it. What do you suppose that is all about? Are you sure you want to do this? I also noticed that some of the grass was mashed down like someone or something had been lying there. Ooooooooooooo!

There is 1 __ __ __ __ hanging from the tree. (This is like a fill in the blanks quiz.) These letters represent 1, 2, 3, 4 in that order.

And 3 __ __ __ __ __ __ hanging from the tree. These letters represent 5, 6, 7,8, 9, 0 in that order. You are now ready to find that little bugger.

Bring your own pencil. The cache contains only a
log. There is a lot of room for error in this. If anyone spots one, please let me know so I can correct it.

This one is not meant to be a PNG. You have to do some puzzles and you have to do some driving. If you don't have more than an hour, wait for another time. When you get to final location (and I'll fess up right now: it's another cemetery) you will have to look a little to find it. You won't see the cache itself. It's hidden from view. Look for what doesn't belong.
