Geocache Description:

Just off the Cougar Snow Park turnaround. Parking available just below the turn around on the south side of the road.

Mount St Helens is a great place to recreate. Have fun exploring the south side of the volcano. Explore nearby Ape Cave and the Trail of Two Forests. A bit further east is the Lahar Lookout and Lava Canyon sites. All tell a chapter in the story of our beloved mountain. There are trails nearby for mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders. And for the truly in shape type of person you can climb the mountain, but you will need a permit to do so since numbers per day climbing the mountain are restricted. Respect the land!
Oh yes!, the cache. You are looking for an ammo can. It should be easy to find. No need to trample vegetation to find it. You shouldn't get stumped, just use your geo-senses, and don't trample the vegetation. This cache is on the boundary of the Mount St Helens Hational Volcanic Monument which is administered by the National Forest Service. The National Forest Service's restrictions on caches are: none in wilderness areas and none in the restricted area of the Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument.
The new cache, placed 14 Jul 2016 is much smaller than the old one. It does contain a little room for tb's and gc's, but not much else, besides the log book and pen. A photo of the new cache will be posted. Please keep well hidden.
