Geocache Description:


[ENG] Laitse castle, built between 1890-1892 from Vasalemma marble is one of the most effective neugothic manor's in Estonia. It resembles a knight’s castle which bears elements of almost all the mediaeval architectural tastes. There are arcades, fiales and towers. It was built by baron Woldemar Uexküll, but through history it has also belonged to families Ulrich and Bremen. The most effective rooms inside are the arched vestibule and a hall with lot of graved details. In present day, the manor stands in private ownership, there's a pub, the halls can be reserved for seminars and parties. There is founded a sauna for recreation and there is available accomodation for 20 people in the old servants house in the edge of the park. Laitse castle is one of the most romantic places to rest near the capital. (]visit link)

Laitse mõis (saksa k Laitz) eraldati iseseisva mõisana Ruila mõisast1637. aastal. 17.-19. sajandil kuulus mõis paljudele valdajatele, pikemaid perioode oli ta von Ullrichide ja von Mohrenschildtide omanduses. 1883. aastal omandas mõisa Woldemar von Uexküll. Üsna varsti peale omandamist lasi ta sinna püstitada väljapaistva kahekorruselise neogooti stiilis hoone. Uus peahoone valmis 1892. aastal. Vasalemma paekivist (marmorist) ehitatud liigendatud krohvimata hoone on palju elemente laenanud tuudorstiililt, mõjudes üldmuljelt aga keskaegse linnusena. Hoone tagaküljel on lahtine kaaristu, selle parempoolses osas aga kaks torni, üks neljatahuline, teine kaheksatahuline. Ullrich von Bremenilt 1919. aastal võõrandatud mõisahoones on asunud nii noortekoloonia kui ka lähedal asuva raadiojaama kontoriruumid ja korterid. Kõrvalhooneid ei ole mõisas säilinud. Peahoone taha, osalt endise mõisapargi territooriumile on 1930tel aastatel ehitatud raadiojaam. Alates 1996. aastast on mõis eraomanduses ning seal on avatud söögikohana Laitse Lossi Pubi. Aarde otsimise käigus tutvuda ka lossiga. Aaret otsides ära kraabi pinnast puude ümbert! Aare asub nii kuskil 2 m. Kõrgusel.
