Geocache Description:

BCGA's 2009 Blitz Wrap-Event

Vancouver Island Central and North

What is the Blitz?

The BCGA Cache Blitz is a way to dust off the winter cobwebs and get out caching. Between May 1st and May 31th, the BCGA encouraged people to hide and seek caches. The Blitz culminates with several events across the province in early June where you can meet local cachers and discuss some of those great new caches you visited.

The cache Blitz is open to ALL geocachers in BC, you do not need to be a registered BCGA Member... but if you're not... Why not? Membership is free and you will be supporting the organization that represents and supports goecachers in BC. Signing up on the BCGA website is not equivalent to being a member. you must submit a membership form. Please click here to learn more about BCGA membership.

Although the BCGA will be supplying several prizes, we depend heavily on the support of the geocaching public. Prize donations are greatly appreciated. Please contact your local representative if you plan on bringing a prize to your local event.

Catagories for this years Blitz include: Camouflage, Hike, Best View, Creative Web page, Best Puzzle, Educational spot or Web page, New or Unique Innovations, Environmental Awareness (New this year), Night Cache (New this year). Prizes will be awarded at the events for the best caches overall.

The Vancouver Island Central and North Event will be hosted by MTNesters57!

Place: Kin Hut at Departure Bay Beach, Nanaimo BC

Date: June 13, 2009
Time: 1 - 4pm

A late lunch (BBQ hot dogs provided, pot luck for all else) (please bring your own utensils and dishes) will be followed by Blitz 09 Info and Awards, Cache set-up info, Games, Door and Game Prize Awards, TB Drop and a general meeting of like minded geo friends. Newbies are welcome and we look forward to everyone getting together for a good time.

Bring your GPS, outdoor chairs or beach blankets, (don't forget your potluck and utensils). We are hoping to host the event outdoors, (beach and playground are nearby), but do have a building if we get rained upon.

We will have a Geo-orientated prize table, if you can, please bring one prize per team, suggested at $5.oo - $10.oo to put in our draw. We will be playing a short version of Shutterspot (GPS Game) so beach shoes may be more comfortable).

Those of you wishing to display geo-collections (coins, photos etc) are welcome to bring them along.

Donations to help cover costs will be greatly appreciated. Our apologies for the late notice of this event. We found out only Saturday that it is our pleasure to co-ordinate this fun event. RSVP in the usual way and let us know if you are bringing a meal or a dessert.

Although the BCGA will be supplying several prizes, we depend heavily on the support of the geocaching public. Prize donations are greatly appreciated... if you bring one a $5 to $10 value would be appropriate.
