The Hay Wain (1821)
I wonder what John Constable would make of some of the roads, streets, closes, lanes and ways, that bear his name ? Little rows of neatly aligned houses, with well tended lawns. Not very interesting to paint, I'd bet.
This multi-cache follows a road which I guess he might have liked. Striking views over the Tasman sea, with Muriwai beach stretching out into the distance.
Perhaps his most famous work was The Hay Wain . This painting adorns many a suburban living room. My parents had this very print hanging above their fireplace for years.
Below are a selection of his other landscapes. The self portrait on the right was done using an arrangement of mirrors !
