Cache is placed on Caldey Island which is open to the public from early April until late October, excluding Sundays. Daily boat crossings take approx 20mins from Tenby Harbour and run normally from 10.30 am to 5.30 pm depending on tide and weather.
Caldey Lighthouse was built in 1829, by Trinity House, the lighthouse authority for England and Wales. It works in conjunction with Lundy North Lighthouse to aid navigation in the northen Bristol Channel.
The lighthouse was originally powered by oil and required resident keepers to keep it in operation. In 1927 it was converted to an automatic acetylene system, after which the station was unmanned, being looked after by a part time attendant. In 1997 the lighthouse was fully modernised and converted to mains electricity.
To find the cache search high and low and look out to sea……..
You do not need to stray far from the shadow of the lighthouse, but junior cachers be careful not to wander too near the cliffs. This spot has the most beautiful views but with it obvious dangers.
You are looking for a larger size cache - a tupperware box with plenty of room for treasures.
