This cache has been archived.

Yowza-PA: Lovely spot, but this has always had high muggle damage. Time to archive.

Geocache Description:

This micro cache takes a little bit of time, but there is parking nearby and a walk down a short gravel covered trail. The terrain has a bit of a hill, but is still quite accessible. 5 steps up are required to gain access to the structure, the view and the cache.

This cache is actually hidden inside of a bird blind that is maintained by the Montour County Recreation Commission (visit link) - the cache has been placed with their blessing. The blind overlooks a wetlands and then a ridge to the west and is a nice place to enjoy a lunch or take a brief rest to reflect and enjoy a scenic spot only minutes away from downtown Danville. The only tricky part (besides finding the cache) is driving to the recreation area. Turn west off Rt. 54 by Perkins and turn right at the stop sign. Another left, right, right, bump, left, bump-bump-bump and you'll be there. You'll see what I mean. ;-)

When you enter the building, open the two large windows that face west and enjoy the view. Sit and stay for awhile even if you can't find the cache. BYOP!

Many thanks to the Montour County Recreation Commission for allowing me to create this find. This is a wonderful resource very close to town and not many people know about it. The park is supposedly open only dawn to dusk, but respectful usage after hours doesn't seem to be discouraged. The access road is closed in the winter, but you can walk into the park.

By the way, you could also park near cache GCXG5E - Old Rail Road Fishing Bridge and walk down the trail from there. Additional caches will be coming in the park soon.

Congratulations to "team erdinger" for beating out "Old Trekker and the Czech" by a few minutes for the FTF prize. Don't know where you found the fifty, but hope you had a nice breakfast on me. Thanks for playing along!
