The co-ords for parking at Court Farm are N51.27.021 W002.26.279. Limited roadside parking is available in Upton Cheyney but there is little opportunity for parking along the route due to the narrow country lanes. The distance from the Court Farm parking to Upton Cheyney is about 2 ½ miles.
Because this follows the Monarch Way, it is not a circular walk but can be approached from either end of the indicated stretch and several points in between.
We have created 24 Monarch Way caches heading North from Wick to Horton. This series has now been taken further by OOK the Librarian to Hawkesbury Upton, with more caches to come in due course. We have now started a Southern series of caches from our original beginnings at Wick Court and will continue these until it gets beyond our reasonable range when we will seek another cacher willing to take the series further with the intention of covering the whole Monarch Way in time.
Monarch Way is the 615 mile route used by King Charles II after the Battle of Worcester in 1651 when he was pursued by the Parliamentary forces under Oliver Cromwell. Charles first travelled north, where he hid in the famous oak tree at Boscobel. He then travelled south through the Cotswolds and the Mendips to the South Coast at Charmouth, and finally along the South Downs to Shoreham from where he made his escape to France.
This cache is accessible from the road and is thus wheelchair and buggy friendly. You are looking for a screw top beaker.
Note: If accessing this cache from cache #4, the path is not very distinct. After you cross the double stile, head diagonally across the field (there were friendly horses there when we set the cache). There is a kissing gate and then a step stile next to the farm buildings which brings you out on the road opposite Chilcott House.
