Snartemo er en gard i Hægebostad kommune i Vest-Agder. Stedet er
kjent for rike gravfunn fra folkevandringstiden, blant annet
Snartemo-sverdet. Det er også et stoppested på Sørlandsbanen.
Snartemo stasjon ligger på kilometer 428,85 fra Oslo. Stasjonen
ligger 151, 6 meter over havet. Den ble åpnet i 1943 da
Sørlandsbanen ble tatt i bruk fram til Moi.
Snartemo-funnet ble gjort under nydyrking 30. oktober 1933. Da
en grav ble undersøkt fant man det gulldekorerte Snartemo-sverdet,
kniver, spydspisser, ting av glass og gullringer.
På 1990-talet ble det laget ein bautapark ved riksveien på
Snartemo, noen hundre meter frå funnstedet. Parken inneholder
informasjon om funnene på Snartemo og en stor kopi av
Snartemo-sverdet.

Snartemo was a farm in Hæbebostad parish in Vest-Agder, and is
now the name of this small village. This place is well known for
its rich arceological finds from the age of migration and Viking
age, among other things the "snartemo-sword".
Snartemo is also a stop at Sørlandsbanen railroad, 428,84 Km
from Oslo and 151,6 m above sea level.
This stop was opened in 1943.
The snartemo-sword was found during cultivation in 1933 when a a
grave was excavated, and beside the goldplated sword they also
found goldrings, knives, spears and glassobjects. This points to
the conclution that Snartemo was a very important place at the
time.
In the early 1990 local autorities made a park here a few
hundred meters from the original findingsite. The park contains
some information on the Snartemo-findings, local attractions and in
summer also public restrooms.
