Ädelfors är en gammal guldgruve- och bruksort. Orten hette från början Gyafors men då man hittade guld i området 1737 ändrade den svenska konungen namnet till Ädelfors. Än i dag har guld- och gruvhistorien en central del i Ädelfors. I gruvmuséet finns den s k Bielkeska mineralsamlingen, en av landets mest betydande. Samlingen omfattar bl a ca 7000 stuffer och fem förgyllda mineralskåp i gustaviansk stil.

Ädelfors is an old gold mining- and operation place. The place was called from the beginning Gyafors, but when gold was found in the area in 1737 the Swedish king changed the name to Ädelfors. Even today, the goldmining history is a central part of Ädelfors. The mining museum contains the wellknown Bielkeska mineral collection, one of the most significant. The collection includes about 7000 stuff and five gold mineral cabinets in Gustavian style.
