This cache is located at Lindeman City, in Chilkoot Trail National
Historic Site. Originally a Tlingit trade route, the Chilkoot Trail
was used in the 1880-90’s by prospectors making their way into the
Yukon River basin in search of gold. At Lake Lindeman they built
boats to carry them down the Yukon River. During the Klondike Gold
Rush, the camp at Lindeman became a bustling tent city.
The cache is available during the summer hiking season only(from
the beginning of June to beginning of September). It contains a
logbook and pencil. In keeping with Parks Canada’s geocaching
policy please do not leave trade items in this cache. While it may
be possible to visit this cache as a day trip it would normally be
done as part of an overnight backpacking trip. Please note that
permits are required. For information on hiking the Chilkoot Trail
visit www.pc.gc.ca/chilkoot. While visiting the site, please stay
on the trails to prevent damaging this fragile cultural landscape.
Happy hunting!
