The trail has been improved in recent years by the Hadley Mountain Fire Tower Committee, and the tower has been restored as well. As you start out, notice the rock steps on the trail. They are a huge improvement over a muddy rocky mess that we remember going up in the past.
The cache is about ¼ mile from the trailhead. Do allow enough time to continue on and climb to the summit, a 3.6 mile round trip with a 1525 foot elevation gain. Even if you do not climb the tower, you’ll be rewarded with excellent views of the southern Adirondacks. Near the summit, you can also seek GCMW4P, This Ole Grey Mare - link, and perhaps a letterbox as well. The hike to the summit would deserve a terrain rating of 3.5.
The cache is a small lock ‘n lock box. The trail is full of muggles at times, so be sure they are out of sight before slipping off to the cache site.
CONGRATULATIONS TO JOE B 46ER ON THE FTF!
