Geocache Description:



The cache is a small transparent lock n lock container located on the public buffer strip along State Park Road at Deep Creek Lake, MD. It is placed with the approval of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. There is a "first to find " geocoin in the cache container. Please replace cache as found.

According to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Services the current Maryland bluegill record of 3 lbs. 7 oz. was caught in Deep Creek Lake as well as the current northern pike record of 24 lbs. 12 oz. The long time Maryland yellow Perch record of 2 lbs. 6 oz. was also caught in Deep Creek Lake. Previous record fish from Deep Creek Lake have included walleye and brown trout. Many fisherman choose Cherry Cove at Deep Creek Lake to try and catch the "Big One" that may set the next record. The parking coordinates for this cache are close to an area where you may encounter some anglers as you walk along the shoreline to the cache site.
