Looking south from this location you will see that this area was settled in the 1850’s.
Looking to the right at the hilltop you will see a quarry/mine this is the reason for this little settlement built by Cornish miners chasing iron ore.
The iron ore was transported to Freeling by horse and wagon teams, there the ore was hand loaded onto the train, at Port Adelaide the ore was again man handled onto a barge and sent to Port Kembler for smelting.
If you care to venture up the road at 50km/h or less the first place of significants is at 113 this dwelling was once a fruit dehydrator and horse stables, across the road at 130 was a hotel and horse stables, as you venture up the road at 50km/h between 111 and 109 stood Johnson’s’ flour mill which burnt down in the early days.
Across the road at 128 a long dwelling is the remains of the original if not the first Zoo in South Australia who was successful at hand raring Kangaroos and keeping them in captivity, many many years ago (not called Grandeeze for nothing) I can remember all the pens out the back that housed Kangaroos Emus and Peacocks.
At 107 are the remains of the first butcher shop and slaughterhouse.
Across the road at 126 was the first baker shop; at 124 was the first grocery shop in the area.
At 105 in the middle of an olive surrounded block is one of the first non-denominational churches in the area; at 101 is where the cobbler shop used to be. The area also had its own Brick Works and Cheese Factory, as you have discover the area was self-supporting in those days.
As you see slowing down to below 50 you can look back at the (18) fifties.
The cache is a small plastic container that will require a LOT of stealth to retrieve with lots of motorize Muggles to hinder you, good luck
